I arrived in Dublin bright and early the morning of October 18th. It was weird for it to still be dark at 6:30... in fact, it didn't start getting light out until about 7:15 am. I hopped on a bus and made my way to Paddy's Hostel in downtown to meet up with my friend Heather. (She had arrived the night before from London.) Once there I sat in the lobby, a little nervous, but very excited. It was really nice knowing that I had a friend meeting me on my first adventure outside of the United States... and not just any friend, but a world traveller! (Heather is the middle of a trip around the world.) Seeing her again has been great. We spent our first morning in a great little cafe drinking tea and coffee and planning out our trip. We studied maps and all the information we had collected, trying to decide where to go and what to see. The rest of the day was for touring the city of Dublin. Our tour bus traveled around the city and we were able to hop on and off as we pleased... jumping on the next one to pass when we were ready for the next stop.
To be continued...

Under the Irish Weather
Hello All!
I am sending my best from Kilarney in the County of Kerry. Woke up yesterday in Cork feeling a bit under the weather. Nothing to bad, just a cold, but not fun! I coughed the entire way to Kilarney on the bus (two hours). Thank goodness most of the people were listening to music, or a really loud movie on their laptop, so I don't think I bothered too many people, just myself. This morning was much worse though. I woke up feeling horrible; lots of coughing and a very sore throat. Heather and I were supposed to catch a bus to go around the Ring of Kerry, but I was not up to it. So we decided to stay at the Hostel and take it easy, which actually worked out well because the weather is crap. Ireland is an amazing country with amazing people! I definitely feel very comfortable here and hope that I am able to find a job so that I might be able to stay for awhile. I will definitely update my blog in the next few days so please take a look soon, for more pictures and info. I love you all and hope that everyone is well!

Greetings from Ireland
HELLO!
Just wanted to let you all know that I made it safe and sound and am having a great time here with Heather. There is just so much to write so I am trying to put it all together. But I will tell you Guiness is awesome! Dad, you would love it! It is extremely expensive here, especially in Dublin, so finding people that will buy us drinks is great. So far we have met more Americans than Irish folks. We have been told that once we are out of Dublin it will be better. Dublin is great, but it is like most other large cities, lots of shopping, tourists and bars. I am really enjoying myself and have met lots of nice people. We are staying with a couple of Italians right now, surfing their couch, they are extremely nice people and are taking good care of us. Mateo cooked us lunch and dinner yesterday, and will be cooking us dinner again tonight. There is so much to tell you all I don't know where to begin, so when I finally get it all down I will send to Melissa to put on my blog. I love you all very much and I am loving that I am able to be here in Ireland. I really hope that I can find a job somewhere in Europe so that I can stay and travel more. I LOVE YOU ALL VERY MUCH and I will write again soon.
Love,
Petra

Land of Guiness... here I come!
Hi Everybody,
Just wanted to let you all know that my time in New York was amazing and I am leaving for Ireland in a few hours and wanted to say hi before I leave the country. I have been able to download photos and I put some up on my myspace page. Melissa is trying to figure out how everyone can see them, I will let you know when I figure it out. In the mean time just know that there are pictures coming soon. I love you all very much and can't wait to send you greetings from Ireland. I will not be able to use my phone while gone, so please don't try and call it. Hotmail, myspace and facebook are the best ways to get a hold of me. I do have a skype account and will be trying to use that once in Ireland, but probably won't use that often, so use email. I love you all and will talk to you soon!

** special note: Melissa figured it out and here is the place. ;)

New York, New York
Hi everyone!
Just wanted to say, "Hi from New York!" I am having an amazing time and enjoying every moment. So far I have seen quite a bit, been to see the Colbert Report (didn't get into The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the people in front of us were the last ones let in), walked through Times Square, Bryant Park, Union Square, seen the Hudson River, gone to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and become a pro at using the subway (haven't screwed up once). The first night I spent in a hostel which was pretty cool. Last night, tonight and tomorrow I am couch surfing in Brooklyn with a guy named Shawn, his brother Adam and a German girl named Natalie. The three of them are extremely nice and a lot of fun to hangout with. Shawn met me for lunch yesterday and then went to The Colbert Report with me. Last night Shawn, Adam and I went to dinner at a bar in Brooklyn and had some beers, we had a great time just drinking and talking. Tonight I am meeting the two of them and a friend in Union Square and going to a movie. I think on Saturday I am heading to Albany to meet up with an old high school friend, Bill Ozuna, it will be really nice to spend some time together since I haven't seen him in years. I have taking lots of great pictures and will share them as soon as I have a moment to download them. I am a little technologically challenged, but I will do my best. I hope that all is well with everyone and I will keep you all updated on my adventures. Take Care!
